China's First 100,000-Card AI Supercluster Sugon 8000 Completed, Adopting Native Super-Fusion Architecture

On July 10, 2025, Sugon announced in Zhengzhou the official completion of the fully domestic 100,000-card AI supercluster Sugon 8000 (Dengfeng), which has been connected to the National Supercomputing Internet. The cluster adopts a native super-fusion architecture, supporting full-precision computing from FP64 to INT8, enabling both scientific computing and large model training.

Engineering Challenges and Full-Stack Self-Development

Scaling from 10,000 to 100,000 cards exponentially increases system complexity. Sugon 8000 addresses these challenges through full-stack self-development:

  • Chips: Leveraging domestic chips such as Haiguang to build a complete chip chain.
  • Network: Uses an IB-like native RDMA high-speed network to achieve reliable 100,000-card connectivity with zero packet loss and millisecond-level fault recovery.
  • Storage: ParaStor distributed storage topped the 2026 Global IO500 Production Dual Lists, supporting massive data read/write.
  • Cooling: Immersion phase-change liquid cooling technology achieves a PUE as low as 1.04, supporting MW-level high-power-density deployment.
  • Scheduling: Gridview 7.0 dual-agent architecture enables automated operations.

Application Achievements and Ecosystem Openness

The cluster has completed over 300 application adaptations across more than 20 fields, with over 70 10,000-card-scale tests. Key achievements include:

  • 80,000 cards accelerating protein folding simulations for new drug development.
  • 88,000 cards completing a 328-trillion-grid turbulence simulation, supporting aviation and shipbuilding.
  • 90,000 cards performing 3.16-trillion-atom DFT high-precision simulations.

Sugon 8000 adopts an open architecture, compatible with mainstream ecosystems, and through the OneScience platform, reduces the development cycle of scientific large models from days to hours.

Replicability and Industrial Impact

On the day of the cluster's completion, the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence and Sugon signed a strategic cooperation to launch the development of a second 100,000-card system, marking the transition from a demonstration project to large-scale replication. Sugon 8000 has been connected to the National Supercomputing Internet and is offered as a computing service, aiming to build a national integrated computing network.
